Rebels are our Countrymen Again

Hello Folks,

I hope all is well your side and your lifestyle living is going smoothly.  We are kicking into gear with more visitors and special events.  We hope to see you support our happenings as we plan for the 2016 centennial and the pursuit of elevating Cabrillo’s significance in our communities.  Cheers for that.

Open AIR at Cabrillo

April is open application season for the Cabrillo National Monument Artist-In-Residency program.  If you know anyone who might be interested please spread the word.  You can direct them to this link or they can inquiry at cabr_volunteers@nps.gov

Check In Board Keeps You Checked

As we hone our systems for fluidity we introduce a new check-in system when you arrive to Cabrillo for a volunteer shift.  As you check out your radios we ask that you write your names on the provided white board located across the Interp office and adjacent to the white board where NPS staff check in and the Interp schedule lives.  Along with your name please put where you will be.  For example, “Tavio-walking aimlessly, bayside trail”. Please erase yourself after you finish your shift. Thanks for your assistance and cooperation.

April 12th Assistance in the VC

We are looking for two interested persons to help with the take down of the temporary exhibit in the VC.  If you would like to help please sign up in volgistics under the Visitor Center shifts to assist, or contact me with any questions.

April 18th, Continuing Education, “The Stars of Your Eyes,” 7 p.m.

Learn about our starry sky with a presentation from the SD Astronomy Association in our auditorium. Then head out and enjoy Cabrillo at night.  The CNM Conservancy hosts the event and VIPs are welcome to attend.  Bring a telescope if you like and come to enjoy the sunset and stars.  If you would like to attend please RSVP to cabr_volunteers@nps.gov with “I’m going back to Calli(ppus)” in the subject line.

 O Dark Thirty, April 22nd 5:30 a.m.

We have another opportunity to wake up early and haul trash out of the tidepools.  If you would like to enjoy the park early morning, be at peace and be a trash egret on the hunt please email me with “Boyan Slat” in the subject line.

Earth Day on the Bay – April 26, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Our partner, the Maritime Museum of San Diego, hosts a new event this year down at the Embarcadero.  We are looking for two more people to help outreach for this event.  Please sign-up  on Volgistics under the special events section.

Volunteer Dinner May 16th 2015, 6 p.m.

Mark your calendars. The venue is at Cabrillo.  Bring your dancing shoes, as we plan to have a band and a good time.  Also, the VNC will be having an open meeting for us to attend and an opportunity for you to add input to the VIP program’s new five year plan.  We look forward for your attendance and contributions.

VIPVOICE and You

Come summertime info for the Cabrillo VIP program goes directly onto the VIPVOICE and I will no longer be using volgistics to promote my tomes of whimsical nonsense.  When you subscribe to the VIPVOICE you will get an alert when something new is posted.  It is a place for you to find out what is going on in and around the park.  If you need help setting this up or have any questions regarding this transition please send your emails to cabr_volunteers@nps.gov

I am the darkness that must come out the light,

Tavio
