Well, the fun never stops at Cabrillo. Go check out the tallships this weekend at the Maritime Museum and enjoy the Festival of Sail. Keep your eyes out for the newest ship to the fleet; The San Salvador. End of the month we prepare for Cabrillo Fest and I hope you can come out to enjoy dancing feet and other such delights.
Volunteer/TPERP Orientation Training
We have a two part training set up for next Saturday September 12th. The morning session is a general training on the volunteer program. It will include topics such as radio procedure, general safety and other basic volunteer orientation. The second half focuses on tidepools and gets you up to speed with volunteering in the rocky inter tidal aka. nature’s playground. Feel free to use this as a refresher and depending on your needs attend the morning session or the afternoon session or both. Please RSVP with “Plenty O’Lottia” to cabr_volunteers@nps.gov in the subject line if you haven’t already done so, by Wednesday Sept. 9th. Below is a breakdown of the training.

Weed Warriors
Late summer rains have rejuvenated our weedy friends and given them new found strength. Thus we need some help pulling the non-natives in the park. If you would like to assist in our plant restoration efforts, get to know plants better we have several dates for you. The group meets around the breakroom and flagpole areas. Reach out in Balboa Park at the House of Spain to promote Cabrillo Festival. We are looking for 2 volunteers to join our booth, in VIP uniform or Living History. Carpool from Cabrillo leaves at 11:30. Please sign up on volgisitcs under special events.

Cabrillo Fest Sept 26th and 27th.
It is upon us. We will need some help with the several components which make up the weekend. If you are interested please mark off the dates. Saturday’s event is up at Cabrillo and we will need a few hands to help us out around 2:00pm. Also for Sunday if you would like to assist our encampment and outreach table we are there from 11:00pm to 4:00pm. Please sign through volgistics. Details to be sent out closer to the event.
Cabrillo Journal Fall/Winter Edition
Get published or get your photographs in our park newspaper! It’s that time again the Cabrillo Journal is gearing up for the fall/winter edition. Please contact Ranger Emily to submit articles and photographs. We are looking for submissions that relate to fall and winter activities at the park.
