Ted Washington: “No, I don’t feel like I’ve mastered anything. Some people say to me, ‘Oh, you’re a renaissance man,’ and I don’t even know what that is. Things just find me. I began writing just to get stuff out of my own mind.”(K.C. Alfred/The San Diego Union-Tribune)

Ted Washington is a Cabrillo National Monument Foundation employee who you may have seen working in the bookstore in the Visitor Center. Ted has many talents and was recently featured in the San Diego Union.

Ted Washington does his best to stay in the background. He actually prides himself on it.

“I’ve never really been into the ‘self’ too much,” Washington says over coffee in North Park. “That’s what allows me to do things like hosting the poetry nights, because I don’t really need to be in the spotlight. Even when I do music, I have a dancer and I sit behind a keyboard. I’m hidden. I only get up and do something every now and then.”
