Lobster Rescue
Last Friday, a lobster rescue occurred in the tidepools. Visitors reported that a lobster trap with lobsters in it was seen north of Zone 1 in the tidepools. TPERP Coordinator Pauline and Ranger Donny went to inspect the reported lobster cage. They confirmed the report. Swell Shark Hatching
TPERPs and visitors were treated to an unusual sighting in the tidepools on Christmas Eve day. We found a swell shark hatching from its egg case, also referred to as a Mermaid’s Purse. The egg case was approximately 4-5 inches in length. Needless to say it was quite popular with the visitors. Tidepool Cleanup and Graffiti Removal
A group of TPERPs were spotted in the tidepools early Saturday morning, July 6. They took advantage of an early low tide to cleanup some of the trash in the tidepools. This low tide during the summer allows the volunteers to get to some of that debris that is usually not accessible. They also removed the graffiti found in the area.
