After this weekend’s much-needed rains, it’s important to remember that water does a number on our sandstone cliffs in the park. It can weaken the sandstone and make the cliffs unstable for quite some time after the rains have stopped.
Please keep this in mind as you’re walking through the park along the Bayside Trail, on the bluffs by the Military History Exhibit, and in the tidepools and along the coast. If you see anything that appears to be a potential hazard–a newly formed crack, a boulder a little closer to the edge, etc.–please report it to a ranger.
